Someone mentioned history. Social Security and Public Education
are usually credited to Otto von Bismarck. As I understand it,
he wanted his new country to be productive, and by giving the
people a guarantee that they won't starve or freeze to death,
they have the freedom to go places, try new things, and join the
army.
If anyone wants to call Otto a mushy leftist don't attribute it
to me.
