PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT IN EPA DECISIONS

Keith Smith

Keith Smith is Sustainability Program Manager for the California Environmental Protection Agency's Innovation Initiative, which explores second generation approaches to environmental protection. The focus of the initiative is on Environmental Management Systems and statewide and regional sustainability based partnerships.

Keith Smith is a chemist by training with seventeen years as a forensic scientist in England, Canada and California. He has been a senior manager in several State Agencies prior to accepting his current position with Cal/EPA. He has been a quality improvement proponent since 1983 and has managed quality initiatives at the Departments of Motor Vehicles and Transportation. He was a founder member of the Public Sector Network, now the Government Division of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and has published articles in their journal, Quality Progress.
