PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT IN EPA DECISIONS

A National Dialogue convened by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
and hosted by Information Renaissance
with additional support from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation


Jeffrey L. Brown

Jeffrey Brown has been working since 1974 to promote a global perspective in schools and colleges - and more recently in libraries as well. He is the Founder and Executive Director of Global Learning, Inc. Currently he is also Project Director of Libraries Build Sustainable Communities - a partnership of the American Library Association and Global Learning, Inc., which is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development. In 1997-98, he directed another ALA-Global Learning-USAID partnership, Local Libraries: Global Awareness.

Although his work has centered mostly on New Jersey, he has taught graduate courses, conducted workshops and made presentations at conferences and seminars across the United States and in Canada. His current program emphases include the global concept of sustainable development, with special attention on organizing the New Jersey Sustainable Schools Network, as well as cross-cultural awareness, conflict resolution and peer mediation.

Among other publications, he has co-authored two high school teacher resource books -- Sustaining the Future: Activities for Environmental Education in US History and A Sustainable Development Curriculum Framework for World History & Cultures.

Mr. Brown holds a BA from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Masters in Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in New York City.
