PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT IN EPA DECISIONS

A National Dialogue convened by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
and hosted by Information Renaissance
with additional support from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation


Community Involvement and Outreach Center

We are members of the U.S. EPA's Superfund Community Involvement and Outreach Center. We are located in Washington, D.C., but work with colleagues in our regional offices to advocate and strengthen early and meaningful community participation during Superfund cleanups.

  • Jennifer Browne. Coordinates the Technical Outreach Services to Communities program, which is five university consortiums dedicated to providing independent technical assistance to communities with hazardous substance contamination problems.
  • Helen DuTeau. Provides communications and involvement support during emergency responses.
  • Bruce Engelbert. Coordinates the Regional Superfund Ombudsman Program and arranges for conflict prevention and resolution support at Superfund sites.
  • Peter Redmond. Promotes partnership initiatives to help return Superfund sites to ecological, recreational or commercial use and conducts community involvement training..
  • Jan Shubert. Manages the Superfund community involvement training program, conducts training to assist EPA staff and Superfund communities with managing work and environmental stress, and promotes the development of roles for retired senior volunteers at Superfund sites.
  • Suzanne Wells. Director of CIOC.
