PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT IN EPA DECISIONS

A National Dialogue convened by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
and hosted by Information Renaissance

Julia Burgess

Julia Burgess provides technical assistance to non-profit organizations in all aspects of organizational development. She also provides assistance in youth program development and advocacy. For several years, Julia was the Director of Special Initiatives at the Center for Community Change in Washington, DC which helps low income people, especially people of color, build the power and capacity to change their communities and public policies for the better. Julia directed the Center's work in organizing around community services and policy change. This included strengthening the ability of community based organizations to involve youth in social change and building consumer input in the developing health care debate. Previously, she was the Center's Eastern Regional Director, directing CCC's general technical assistance to community based organizations in the eastern half of the country. For nearly ten years Julia was the Executive Director of Demicco Youth Services, Inc. in Chicago, IL, a multi-service community based child welfare agency. She has a BA and MSW from the University of Michigan.
