Harry,

I agree with you! There are other countries that require that all citizens vote. It is their duty. And they have to pay a fine, if for some reason they fail to do so.

It would seem that votes obtained in this manner don't mean as much as votes freely given. But the people in these countries are astounded at our dismal voter turnout in the USA. People need to stop thinking of voting as merely a "freedom" and see it for what it TRULY is a privilege, a responsibility and a civic DUTY! We need to raise our children, instilling in them what it means to live in a free country, and how many others yearn for what we have, they would fight, and give their blood and DIE for what we have and take for granted in this country. By being so apathetic about one of life's most precious freedoms, we are in danger of losing it! -Denise Hood
