I wanted to present a thought to the participants and see what your thoughts are. I was thinking about this issue on a more general level, and after reading several posts, it seems that many, including myself, are weighing the issues of freedom and restrictions on campaign fundraising. While this is difficult to weigh, I did have a thought, that maybe restrictions on campaign fundraising might give us more freedom (rather than less) by opening up the process to what is was intended to be, attracting the most able and civic-minded citizens for political office rather than themost wealthy or well-connected. By placing restrictions on the process, we may find that we have not lost freedom but instead gained it. Just a thought....I'd be interested in hearing any feedback.
