I agree with you, Karyn. I think a part of Campaign Finance Reform should involve regulation of the CONTENT of Campaign Ads. In my opinion, any candidate who has the money to devote to almost exclusively negative or attack ads, that impugn the character or record of his/her opponent, has TOO MUCH money. Maybe if his/her budget were to be pared down, thru Campaign Finance Reform, he/she would have to choose the ads more wisely, and focus on issues and positions. Approach campaigning from the point of view that ads are to inform voters of WHY they should vote for the candidate, rather than why they SHOULDN'T vote for his/her opponent.This could have the added effect of "elevating" the discourse, something that is much needed.
