Hello all,

I am interested in several comments that I have heard reading the boards and how they might unite to focus on the element of disinterest. I agree that most people trust the government to handle complicated clean up and thank goodness they do. The issues are too complicated for any other structure to handle. The public may not be disinterested, as much as they are trusting and feeling unable to assist with the scope of the project either due to time constraints or the possible inability of them to understand the "science" of the issues.

One message suggested that high schools would be a spot to use as a focus of getting the word out. I agree, but in a more personal way rather than just use their system to relay information. If students involved in learning science where approached to be involved through a local internship/outreach, word would be carried quickly. This age student needs these connections to real local issues to encourage and motivate their science learning.
