I rather admire their honesty. Wouldn't you rather have agency people say that it's a waste of time openly, if that is what they think is the truth, rather than assure you that your comments are valued when they know that they aren't?
But let's be fair here -- Steve Taylor phrased his remarks as if he'd talked to one or two people who thought this was a waste of time. Many other EPA staffers evidently think it is valuable. I don't think it's fair to insist that all EPA staffers show support for all EPA programs in all informal conversations.
