US EPA's role in California's Energy Crises

CARE is a non-profit corporation dealing with the impacts of the California Energy Crises on California's consumer and the environment. Our group provides assistance to low-income and communities-of-color threatend by sky rocketing power bills combined with the environmental threat from new fossil fuel power plants located in their comunities.

Our group has filed or helped prepare 3 appeals to the US EPA Environmental Appeals Board over PSD pemits for new power plants located in communities-of-color. CARE has also filed or helped prepare two complaints with US EPA Office of Civil Rights over disparate impacts of power plant located in communities-of-color.

Our goal in participating is to provide input to the EPA over how to provide Californians adequate opportunity for meaningfull and informed participation in US EPA permitting processes.
