Good morning, my name is Jim Marxen and I work in the Public Participation Program within California's Department of Toxic Substances Control. I'm interested in the dialogue for a number of reasons including the opportunity it provides to comment on the draft PIP, and hear what others have to say about it. Our "public" is changing dramatically out here and we face a vastly different landscape than the one we had ten years ago. I know most of you are experiencing the same issue and I look forward to seeing what new avenues are being taken to address them.

Also, you'll be hearing from California about our desire to make public involvement more meaningful to communities. Again, you've probably faced the same issue, and the discussions should be insightful and thought-provoking.
