When schools become career factories, we do our students a great disservice. Education is not just about getting a job. I recently read a statistic that only 20% of the jobs in the future will require a college degree. Unfortunately, I can't put my hands on the source at the moment.

What I think schools need to be doing is teaching kids how to think and how to continue to learn, as well as to understand our form of government and their right to be part of it. They need to know how to question their leaders, be they the president of their company, or the President of the country.

We should be looking at the Master Plan in the context of abroader societal issues.
