Re: Ivan Cheng's comments on morale:

As a former state wide officer in United Teachers Los Angeles and a math teacher at a large urban school I understand your concern for morale. The teachers at this particular school (South Gate Middle School) experienced high morale and pride in their profession. As a result, we had significant increases in math and reading scores. I attribute this to a strong Administration and a good teacher cadre.

Re: Ivan Cheng's comments on college professors spending time in a K-12 classroom:

This is a novel idea and worth looking into, but it would be difficult to implement. I believe professors (especially those who teach classes on education) could benefit from experience in a real setting.

Re: Beverly de Nicola's comments on adult education:

I can't agree with you more. Professional development for adult education teachers is essential. With the HSEE (exit exam) date approaching, we need to mobilize our adult education teachers to prepare them for the influx of students who do not pass the exam. They have to go somewhere.

QUESTION: How do you think the High School Exit Exam (HSEE) will effect the professional development needed for High School, Adult Education, and Community College educators?
