Charles' comment, "But I am reminded that in the final analysis, education is a people process. Without the right people in place, even ideal structures and accountability mechanisms can be misapplied or misused," is both profound and especially significant. Caifornians must acknowledge and address the fact that our system of public education has not paid enough attention to defining, based on a preponderance of research findings, who the "right people" need to be to teach today's culturally and linguistically diverse student population (K-16); nor have we revised our hiring standards to
ensure prospective educators (K-16) possess those qualifications that will stimulate ALL students with diverse learning styles TO WANT TO LEARN and ultimately SUCCEED.
