My name is Rich Parsons. I have taught chemistry and physics in a California public school for 37 years. My students won the National Physics Bowl competition in California 4 times and placed 2nd 4 times in 11 years (even though my school is at best, an average school). I am interested in improving college preparatory education in math and science for two reasons. One reason is that California cannot maintain its economy and therefore the quality of life for its residents by hiring brains from overseas. We need to educate and employ Californians. Another reason is that I, personally, began life in a very difficult situation and was able to escape from it by taking advantage of a free, quality, public education. I want that path to be available to every student who needs some help.
