RE: What does accountability mean?

I am a product of California public schools and universities, the parent of two children that have gone through public schools, and am actively enagged in trying to help craft a Master Plan for Education that will be well understood and have its implementation supported throughout the state.

I wanted to add one additional dimension to the 4 elements mentioned by Ms. Hawbaker with respect to accountability.  She mentions teachers, school districts, students, and parents.  The Master Plan speaks to the concept of shared accountability and I would add that the legislature must be accountable for providing the resources required to provide a quality education to every student.
