social mobility

I am a retired University of California employee.  I had the opportunity to do some work on the periphery of some of these issues.  (I am speaking only for myself now.)I am also the mother of a student who will be entering Berkeley High next fall.  And I have two older children who both have taken advantage of our wonderful community college system and the ability to transfer into the UC system.  From my personal experience and from general convinction, I hope that the new Master Plan safeguards the features of social mobility, of second chances, of the opportunity for changes in direction.  This has been one of the great strengths of our system in California.
