Name: Laurie Tynan
Title: Executive Director
Organization: Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library
Area of Employment: library
How I heard about Universal Service: Pennsylvania: announcement on mailing list
- My experience in this area:
- I am responsible for developing this library's Technology Plan and application for Universal Service discounts and have begun working on the necessary technology plan. Since our library is also a member of a new consortium through which we acquire some of our telecommunications services, we are currently trying to develop the consortium Technology Plan and Universal Service discount application as well as our own.
- What I hope to learn:
- I hope to learn how to handle discount applications for a library with several branches located in different school districts, how services from non-profit organizations like OCLC will be handled in the context of the procurement process, what I need to do to work with my county government to document telephone services shared under their CENTREX phone system and many other logistical questions about applying for the discounts from the Universal Service Fund.
- Additional comments:
- It would be beneficial to see copies of examples of model Technology Plans and discount applications. I have obtained a few handouts from the PA State Library and from the Michigan State Library which have been helpful, but additional samples would be useful.
