1) What are the one or two most pressing needs of your PA school or library for the implementation of effective and sustainable telecommunications programs? The most pressing need for us is access to an affordable Internet on-ramp with adequate bandwidth. For the past four years our High School has received free T1 Internet access from the local college. Basically, we are part of their network and use their pipe to the Internet. The partnership was born out of a National Science Foundation grant. The partnership with the college ends at the end of the year. Our administrators and board members were shocked, to say the least, to find that the same class of service would cost us nearly $30,000.00! 2) How do the needs of schools and libraries differ, and how are they complementary? I believe that the research needs of schools and libraries are basically identical. The main difference is that schools have a lot more people who need the service at the same time. 3) How do the needs of rural schools and libraries differ from those of schools and libraries in urban areas? The primary difference is economics.
