- How I heard about Network Democracy:
- Through a memo issued by Delaine Eastin, the California State Superintendent off Public Instruction
- My experience in this area:
- I have an MA in Computer Based Instruction and 8 years of
experience as the Supervisor of Technology for the
Paso Robles Public Schools. We have a very advanced district
in technology with 1200 computers and 8000 pieces of electronic
and A/V gear. To support that technology, we have a full
time technical staff of 4, running a complete electronics
repair shop and offering training on a variety of computers
and peripherals as well as video and audio equipment. Our student
population K-12 is approximately 6,000, with 5 elementary sites,
2 middle schools and 1 high school. Currently, we are finishing
a networking project which has all sites connected with frame
relay connects at 64K to T1 speed. Our internet connection
will support several dozen concurrent users. We are of course
very interested in any assistance available for providing
networked service to our schools and have enough experience
in development that I think we can be of help to others who
may just be getting started in the process.
- What I hope to learn:
- The hope is that informational contacts an be made and
example sites and districts will emerge from which we can learn
enough not to have to reinvent our wheels again.
