How I heard about Network Democracy:

Maine Libraries listserv forwarded a promotional bulletin to me.

My experience in this area:

I am active in the Maine Telecommunications Council, a public telecommunications policy advocacy group recently founded in Maine. In addition, I am the network engineer for the fourth largest telecommunications consumer in the State of Maine, as well as chairman of the Maine Chapter of the IEEE Communications Society. I will draw upon my professional experience with network technology, the common carrier industry and my contacts within the Maine telecommunications community to develop arguments and ideas for sharing.

What I hope to learn:

I hope to help shape the FCC and state rulemakings on universal service. I hope to share the knowledge I have about the universal service provisions of the Telecom Act gleaned from personal study. I want to see what others' perspectives are on the upside/downside potential for universal service, especially for rural states like Maine.
