- How I heard about Network Democracy:
- From participants in the civtalk listserv. This is a group
of individuals and organizations who submitted grants to
the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in response to an
RPF for creating content for civic networks.
- My experience in this area:
- I have a strong technical background in computing and
significant experience as the User Support/Electronic
Information Coordinator for campus community of about
10,000. In addition, we have recently formed a coalition of
local educational, governmental, civic, and business groups
and individuals to create an online community in this
primarily rural area.
- What I hope to learn:
- 1) Learn the details of the issues of those concerned most
about fostering competition and ensuring universal access.
2) Contribute to the debate on how to best guarantee public
access to the emerging computer and communications technologies.
3) I also expect to learn a great deal about how and how well
and on-line seminar of this size works.
