My experience in this area:

In my work as Information Technology Librarian at the Alaska State Library, I have occasion to consult with libraries across the state. We also developed and fund SLED, our Statewide Library Electronic Doorway, so have first-hand experience with telecommunications costs and barriers.

What I hope to learn:

Become more proficient in telling the library story to state public utilities commissions, the FCC, and others. It's time for librarians to "get out of the house" and into our communities where we can most effectively speak out on behalf of our users and champion universal access.
