ACTIVITIES:
In four of our grade schools,we have networked computer labs that are used for redediation puropses in both math and reading. We are also in the process of networking all computers in our high school with the ultimate plan of networking all schools in our district and all districts in our county consortium as funding becomes available. We also envision inclusion of the colleges in and around our area, the local library, the hospital, and other public buildings in our networking activities during the next five-year span.

BARRIERS:
The biggest barrier, of course, is money. We can only move as fast as our financial recources permit. We're also finding that every district in our consortium is in a different stage of technical development and, therefore, have different needs. And, finally, we have problems with our area geographically. We're spread out over a very large area, so connectivity is a major problem and expense.

We plan to completely network our highschool and begin to work on out junior high and five elementary schools and central office as quickly as financing is secured.

I think it is an exciting time to be in education, and I feel if we want our students to be successful in the 21st century, we must do all we can with technology. We need the skills necessary to help our students access and process the vast amount of facts and information they'll need as adults.
