Pittsburgh I-Net Working Group
Survey
AT&T Power Supply Boxes
(Responses Requested ASAP)

The I-Net Working Group has been discussing ways to reduce the cost of
I-Net services for non-profit organizations joining the Working Group
I-Net. We have an immediate opportunity to help keep costs down.

As part of the upgrade of its cable system, AT&T has to find locations
to install 200 to 220 power supply boxes throughout the City. This
involves negotiations and leases with many property owners throughout
the City.

The I-Net Working Group hopes to assemble a group of sites that can be
offered to AT&T for this purpose. In exchange, the Working Group will
negotiate discounted rates for the I-Net services provided.

This survey hopes to identify ASAP an initial set of non-profit sites
willing and capable of hosting the AT&T power supply boxes. We are
especially interested in non-profits located in the area AT&T is
designing first -- the area south of the Ohio and Mon Rivers (for
example, West End, Mt. Washington, South Side, Arlington, Beltzhoover,
Brookline, Beechview, Carrick). If your organization is interested (or
if you know of an organization that may be interested), please complete
the attached survey and return it ASAP. If you have questions, please
contact Ashley Schannauer:

Description of AT&T Power/Amplifier Boxes:
AT&T needs 200-220 locations for power/amplifier boxes. The units
provide electric power for AT&T's new cable/phone system. They also
include a back-up generator, powered by natural gas or propane. The
units are totally encased in a metal box.

The units are approximately 4 1/2 feet long, 3 feet wide and 5 feet
high. They will be located on a 10 x 10 concrete slab outside the
building. The units must be accessible by AT&T personnel 24 hours per
day. AT&T will be responsible for installation and for the costs of the
utility connections and services.

Site Criteria:
-- Own property and able to enter into a 10-year agreement with AT&T
-- Sufficient space for a 10 ft x 10 ft concrete pad
-- 10 ft x 10 ft space easily accessible to street for utility
     connections
-- 10 ft x 10 ft space accessible from street 24 hours per day

If your site doesn't meet the necessary criteria but you would like more
information about high-speed Internet and data services and the
Pittsburgh I-Net Working Group, contact Rick Flanagan of the Working
Group at Bloomfield-Garfield Corp. 5149 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA
