Brief Description


A meeting of Principal Investigators and practitioners in the National Science Foundation's Networking Infrastructure for Education (NIE) program will be held in Pittsburgh April 3-5, 1997. The conference will advance the theme of educational reform which underlies the NIE program and explore the balance between educational research and classroom practice.

In addition to NIE PIs and practitioners, conference attendees will include program managers from the NSF and other federal agencies and from other groups that support educational reform nationally.

Goals of the conference will be to:

Preceding the Pittsburgh meeting there will be online discussions on research topics that will be summarized in break-out sessions at the conference. During the meeting conference attendees will visit school and community networking sites in Pittsburgh which serve as examples of networking practice.
