Hi,
I would like to introduce our website, Math Teacher Link, whose URL is:

http://www-cm.math.uiuc.edu/MathLink/

Math Teacher Link provides professional development short courses (called
course modules on MTL), classroom resources, and teacher networking for
math teachers at the 9 - 14 grade levels.

The course modules can be taken on a non-credit (guest) or credit basis.
Our current offerings include course modules on:
1) Mathematica programming for math teachers,
2) Using the Internet for mathematics instruction,
3) Calculu&Mathematica for math teachers,
4) Using the Geometer's Sketchpad,
6) Algebra through modeling with the TI-82 calculator
7) Teaching statistics in high school.

In addition, we have an on-line tutorial on HTML for teachers, and two
on-line tutorials on the TI-82 graphing calculator.

We have made a special effort to reach teachers in rural and inner-city
high schools because we believe that they have the least access to
traditional professional development opportunities. Because internet access
for rural teachers is still expensive and time-restricted, we have designed
our course modules so that the can be downloaded to participant computers
for off-line work. The course modules are user-active and each involves
completion of an approved classroom project selected by the participating
teachers for use in their classrooms.

I look forward to meeting others at the conference who are interested in
professional development programs. One of the teachers who has been
participating in the Math Teacher Link course module program, Tom Anderson
of Rock Falls H.S., will be coming too.
