Install Disk
"Install" is a collection of programs that prepare a PC for "restore". The PC needs only to be boot-able. To make
an "install disk" you must be at a PC that is "currently" connected to the net (and server) via pcrb.
- Boot the PC to windows.
- Pop open a "Dos Prompt" window.
- Insert formatted 1.44Mb Floppy disk in drive a or b.
- Change to the "p" drive:
- Change to the directory where the install software is:
- Copy the files over to your disk (assuming A drive):
Network Interface Cards Disk
The "NIC Disk" contains various programs from various vendors to modify/show the parameters of "software
programmable" Ethernet cards. To make an "nic disk" you must be at a PC that is "currently" connected to the net
(and server) via pcrb.
- Boot the PC to windows.
- Pop open a "Dos Prompt" window.
- Insert formatted 1.44Mb Floppy disk in drive a or b.
- Change to the "p" drive:
- Change to the directory where the nic software is:
- Copy the files over to your disk (assuming A drive):
Upgrading PC Remote Build for NCSA HTTPd Server
PC Remote Build was originally written for the Plexus HTTPd server. Since CK:P has changed over to the NCSA
server, it is necessary to upgrade the version of "gethttp.exe" that pcrb uses to communicate with the HTTPd
server. The new executable is located on the server and needs to be manually copied from a disk to all user
devices. These are steps to place "gethttp.exe" on a disk:
- Boot the PC to windows.
- Pop open a "Dos Prompt" window.
- Insert formatted 1.44Mb Floppy disk in drive a or b.
- Change to the "p" drive:
- Change to the directory where gethttp.exe is:
- Copy the file over to your disk (assuming A drive):
To manually copy the new version of gethttp.exe to a user device:
- Boot the PC to "Conventional Memory".
- Insert disk with new "gethttp.exe" in drive a or b.
- Change to that drive (assuming A drive):
- Copy the file to the directory where gethttp.exe is:
