A PROPOSAL TO THE
HOWARD HEINZ ENDOWMENT

February 9, 1994

Funding is requested to implement the school infrastructure needed for the second year of Common Knowledge: Pittsburgh. The project is a national testbed for school networking, with major funding from the National Science Foundation. It is unique in its emphasis upon curricular applications of the technology and upon institutionalization of the use of technology in the setting of a large urban school district. The project fits in well with the school district's efforts at restructuring and provides a useful model for future technology planning and implementation, both in Pittsburgh and across the country.
