V.1 Five-year networking proposal

This proposal was submitted to the National Science Foundation in January of 1992. It defines the broad framework of Common Knowledge: Pittsburgh in terms of educational goals and technical infrastructure.

V.2 Two-year pilot proposal

This proposal corresponds roughly to the first two years of the five-year networking proposal. Submitted to the NSF in May, 1992, this proposal was funded for two years (with an allowable six-month spillover) beginning in January, 1992. Included in the budget of the two-year pilot proposal were items totalling $360,000 ($130,000 in the first year and $230,000 in the second year), which were to be funded through supplemental grants proposals. The present proposal is meant to provide this supplemental funding.
