Schenley: Action Plan (CK:P) (School year 1993/94) I: Support Needs: Team Support: CK:P staff, once/month at TIPT-meetings (Wednesdays: 2:30-3:20 p.m.). Class Support: - CK:P staff will give presentations to beginning computer classes. - Teachers will make individual requests for such presentations. Project Support: - Project staff will meet with the team to share information and give an up-date on the CK:P Project.(once/month) - Set up a bulletin board for project questions. - In-service is to be used for networking activities by the team members. II: Timeline: First Semester: October: - Student accounts. - E-mail in target language: twice/month. (thematic correspondence, commentaries on UPI-releases etc.) - Weather reports in target language:searches for sources on the Internet; oral reports by students. Please note: E-mail correspondence is an on-going activity until the end of the first semester. November: - News reports (background information in the CIA-FACT-BOOK). - Summaries of news releases:UPI-Newsgroups. - Teachers will select the appropriate newsgroups. Please note: the Newsgroup activity will be an on-going activity until the end of the first semester. Second Semester: - Participation in a global project available on the Internet - Participation in a project sponsored by Schenley students. - Participation in a teleconference. - Exploration of resources via Veronica, Gopher, WAIS etc. III: Outcomes: Netters: - Students will improve and augment their research abilities, apply critical thinking skills to various topics/themes and expand their multi-cultural, multi- ethnic and global awareness of people and current events. They will be able to focus on objective interpretation of globally ocurring events and develop their own personal strength in tolerance of different people in this world. - Students will improve their language proficiency in reading, writing and oral presentation. - Teachers will be able to increase the number of resources available through the Internet. - The librarian will introduce the Internet to other teachers in the school so as to enlarge the number of network users. - The principal will post departmental and individual mail via e-mail.
