McCleary Elementary 1994-95 Action Plan




				McCleary School
				  Action Plan

Support Needs:
	1. Train untrained staff on E-mail Sept. 1 or 2
	2. Monthly meetings with core group
	3. Inservice for whole staff for using Gophers & Bookmarks for
             research
	4. On-going In-class support.   With 1-2 computers in room,
	    must do small group training of students
	5. On-line (ABSOLUTELY)
	6. Train students to do a presentation/demonstration for
	    parents for PTO meeting
	7. Additional inservice as needed

Timeline:
		Trainers: Nancy Fralic

	1. Train rest of staff (including all adults and volunteers) on
             E-mail so that everyone is comfortable by Oct. 1.

	2.	 Train Lois, the secretary, immediately on E-mail so that 
		    she can use it for the daily bulletin.

	3.	Train Rooms 201, Grades 4/5  &  G, Grade 5 on E-mail by
	 	Oct. 1.  They will act as trainers with the small groups that
		they are a part of during teacher planning times.

		Rooms 104 & 101, Grades 3/4 by Nov. 1.

		Rooms 116, 111, 108, 110, 210 by Dec. 1.


			Implementation format:
				Orientation
				E-mail partners in other classrooms
				Invite parents at scheduled times for student 
					E-mail demonstrations
				Form E-mail penpals with children in other 
					schools/districts
				Parent demonstrations
				On-going development
				Create E-mail HELP sheets for all computers
				Create Training Videos of research skills in 
				library and classroom for off computer 
				activities.

	4.	Train staff in researching by Gopher/Bookmarks  by end
		of Dec. 

			Implementation format:
				Training  				
				Create a form or E-mail request format for
				bookmarks on specific topics
				Set up bookmarks for general research topics

	5.	Develop "Kid's Corps" in newsgroups to help train staff to
		begin using Newsgroups, including Monuments' newsgroup
		by end of Dec.

	6.	Students training on using Gohper/Bookmarks starting Jan.

			Implementation format:
				Orientation
				Search a topic in teams in Gopher space 
				(limited to in-house bookmarks)
				Research monument topic through bookmarks.
				(Primary grades may only be able to research 
				with older child mentors/partners)

	7.	Computer at Arsenal for Kindergarten

	8.	Computer in itinerants' office at McCleary



Projections:
	Next year: 	Locations in community-Giant Eagle, Carnegie
				Library, Garfield Heights Reading Room, or
				Health Office
	Future(ASAP):	All teachers have access to computers
					and modems at home

Staff:

	Respond in monuments newsgroup at least once to an
		ongoing discussion.

		students in own class

Students:

	E-mail their own teachers and all staff
	Do self-assessments possibly for portfolios

Parent volunteers:
	Will be trainers

Parents:
	An awareness of the Internet
