From "'The Strip:' A Socio-Religious Survey of a Typical Problem Section of Pittsburgh, Pa." Made by The Pittsburgh Christian Social Service Union, The Methodist Episcopal Church Union, and other Co-operating Agencies--July-September, 1915.

The People's Bath House of the Civic Club is doing an effective work in the district. Between two and three hundred baths are taken daily. The institution is thoroughly equipped for its work and is unique in its line as being entirely self-supporting. A rate of five cents for shower baths and ten cents for tub baths is charged. This includes towel and soap furnished by the bath house. Although a charge is made no one is turned away if he does not have the price of a bath. A large number of people, especially boys, thus are given gratis the benefit of this institution's equipment.
