We learn that the Rev. Wm. H. T. Barnes, a prominent Temperance lecturer, and recently editor of a Temperance journal at Williamsport, in this county, has fallen to the level of an every day drunkard. We always considered Mr. B. an intemperate advocate of Temperance, and as quite destitute of the spirit of charity, which is the evidence of efficiency in every laudable undertaking. We think we once, in referring to a Lecture delivered by him in our Borough, quoted the Scriptural injunction, "let him who standeth, take heed lest he fall." and we now much regret that his present situation furnishes a striking exemplification of the import of this injunction. We always mourn over the fall of the champions of Temperance; yet, we, by no means, concede that the merits of a good cause depends upon the individual actions of those who may espouse it.--W Examiner.
