The Gospel of Wealth was first published in 1889. Mr. Carnegie's quotation is not exactly word for word as originally published. At times this old record is difficult to understand. The supposition, advanced in the June/July 1985 Carnegie Magazine, is that Mr. Carnegie is saying "twenty-five years ago."
