Biography
Barry Chad is Assistant Head of the Pennsylvania Department, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. He has worked in the Bucks County Free Library System, at the Library School of the University of Pittsburgh's School of Library and Information Sciences and at the Community College of Allegheny County.
Among his webwork for the Carnegie, Mr. Chad has constructed the websites, Roberto Clemente: 18 August 1934 -- 31 December 1972 and Manchester: Pennsylvania Bidwell High Rise -- Oral Histories. Through Information Renaissance for the Regional Coalition of Community Builders he created the conference site "Telling Our Stories...Shaping Our Future."
Mr. Chad has participated in the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Read-Aloud twice before--reading from Martin Delany's 1846 Pittsburgh-published abolitionist newspaper, "The Mystery," and from Gertrude Stein's story, "Melanctha," one of the portraits in her Three Lives. A resident of Pittsburgh since 1989, he currently lives on Troy Hill, North Side.
