Pittsburg Flyer Falls to Death

When the airplane in which they were flying suddenly fell to earth, alighting in a hydrogen gas tank near the Rockaway Beach naval air station, yesterday, Ensign Hugh J. Adams, aged 30, Goodrich st., and Chief Machinist's Mate Harold Corey, Scranton, were instantly killed. The accident was caused by the engine suddenly stopping when the [plane] was 400 feet in the air.
Ensign Adams enlisted in the air service July, 1917. Following a preliminary training at Pensacola, he was graduated from the Boston Tech school. He was one of the oldest flyers, in point of service, in the navy.
