My name is Susan and I've been very involved with the League of Women Voters in the Montclair,New Jersey area for years. I know I speak for many of my fellow League members when I say how frustrated we are with our current political system. The League has always maintained that non-partisanship is the key way to address issues and carefully assess solutions. We study political issues in depth and then take a consensus of the membership to determine our lobbying positions. How effective our government would be if it would do the same! Does our government really care what the consensus of this nation is? Does it even know? Special interests are so controlling where money is being spent that most citizens feel they have little say in how our government is run. As an environmentalist and political activist, I feel very angry and resentful about what is going on in Washington right now. Our government has to be reformed, but until its citizens become better informed voters and take a real interest in what is happening in Washington, I do see any real reform occurring.
