Being as though I am only a senior in high school, I have only run for one "political" office. This was running for senior class president at the end of my junior year. I ran with a friend of mine, on a bill as two co-presidents. We go to a smaller school, with only about 150 members in the senior class. To get word out about our campaign and what we hoped to accomplished to even 150 people was a task. We printed up posters, made fliers, and spoke in a forum where all candidates were allowed to address the class. Although this endeavor was not extremely costly, the little things did add up. I can hardly imagine running for a position where you must reach 1500 people, which is only 10 times the amount of people we wanted to contact. I feel the finicial burden on major candidates is too great, and reforms must be made to encourage less wealthy people with good ideas to run for offices.
